Jackie began her working career as a solicitor having studied law at Oxford. An interest in practically applying case law led to a move into tax consultancy and becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser. She spent 17 years working in the field of indirect tax as a Director in Deloitte advising FTSE 100 companies, working in multi-disciplinary teams implementing global projects and managing her own team. At the point where partnership was the next move she decided to take a career break and explore another passion – working with the more vulnerable in society caught in poverty, homelessness and addiction.
She spent 2 years full time working on a charitable project renovating a derelict building in her local area to serve poor and marginalised people drawing on teams made up of local business people, volunteers, the homeless and individuals in recovery. Seeing first hand the importance of resilience and the impact of focusing on what was right with people to instil hope and momentum led to an interest in the relatively new field of positive psychology and a partnership with Hilda.
Jackie has studied with some of the world experts in Positive Psychology such as Barbara Fredrickson on Positive Emotions and Ryan Niemiec on using Strengths and is qualified to use and teach cutting edge bio technology in the field of the physiology of resilience. She is passionate about providing people with science and evidence based tools that enable people to truly flourish and thrive in their environments. One of the highlights of her role is coaching others to craft these tools to increase motivation, meaning and purpose in their day to day lives.
